UNREAL CITY is a multi-media collaborative installation from Generic Greeting Collective members, taking place in Blankspace, Manchester from the 2nd - 8th May. Primarily designed and made by Florence Platford, the installation is spread across five rooms and seeks to create an immersive, multi-sensory environment, one that will act as a physical extension of the music. This album consists of the music made solely for the installation; each track accompanying a different room within the exhibition.
"My work is informed by techno-capitalist iconography and signifiers present in the architecture of cities, in art and in popular culture," says Florence, "I am interested in electronic music and the constantly evolving digital climate in which it is produced and distributed, and the social and political analysis of popular culture, architecture and urbanism."
A launch night will take place on Thursday 2nd May from 6-10pm at the gallery, featuring DJ sets from Generic Greeting's FREnchfire and Big War, both contributing music for the installation. There will also be a bar, and space in the downstairs gallery displaying work from other members of the collective.
